The average rent nationwide for a one-bedroom home is $1,105 per month and $1,342 for a two-bedroom home. New Hampshire’s average rent is right on par with the national average with an average rent for a one-bedroom home at $1,059 per month and $1,367 per month for a two-bedroom.
This means that an individual in New Hampshire working minimum wage would have to work 112 hours each week at minimum wage to make rent on a modest 1 bedroom home.
According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, the most affordable areas to rent a two-bedroom apartment in New Hampshire right now are as follows:
- Portsmouth-Rochester – $1,399
- Manchester – $1,413
- Lawrence – $1,565
- Nashua – $1,628
- Western Rockingham County – $1,637
